We also recommend to visit these two wonderful cities: Orvieto with his wonderful Duomo and Civita di Bagnoregio.
Although this is not a guided tour, you will have – if you wish – our driver at your disposal to visit the most important touristic attractions of each city and to taste typical local food and wine. Start visiting Orvieto, located on the summit of a cliff made of volcanic limestone. Go inside the Duomo, which is considered as the most beautiful in all Europe, with its romanic-gothic style and its black and white marble stripes and look up at the wonderful rose window and the frescos by Luca Signorelli. Take a walk in the old town and go visit the Piazza del Popolo, the well of S. Patrick, Corso Cavour and other churches and attractions. Do not miss the underground city, whith its tunnels, galleries, wells, steps, pits, cellars, secret passages, tanks and rooms.
Civita di Bagnoregio is a small village located on a hill in a quite isolated position. Tourists will be asked to pay a small sum to enter the village, which is necessary to guarantee the urban maintenance. Civita di Bagnoregio can be reached only by crossing a pedestrian bridge about 500 mt long, built in reinforced concrete about 50 years ago. The bridge can be crossed only on foot, or by a few authorized resident people by scooter or bikes. Civita di Bagnoregio is also called the “the dying town” and in latin “balneum Regis” and it is in the area of Viterbo. After these two cities, you will take your way back to the hotel.
The duration of this tour is 10 hours, and you will enjoy this day the maximum comfort.
